Here’s a charming set of hand-drawn picture books on the food and traditions of Singapore’s Chinese, Malay, Indian, Peranakan and Eurasian families.

The stories centre around the kitchen, and a search for lost recipes, and offer a peek into the traditions of each family. I really like these, and they have a warm homey feel. Cooking over charcoal, sugee cake, MURUKKU (!), lohei, rempah, kueh!

Did I mention we all having a read before sending them out to you? 🤭🤓😇📚

There’re activities at the back of each book as well, which is perfect for the young reader to pick up from where the book leaves off, to pursue the new knowledge further. Excellent!

Author Debra Ann Francisco was an English and Literature teacher who now develops educational content for teachers. Madeline Wee trained in London and painted every of these pictures in watercolour. ⭐️
